Too many browser tabs open?
Short answer: click the LinkVault button in the Chrome or Edge toolbar. The tab then sits in your library with the page title, you can close it, and one word in the search brings it back.
Why the tabs stay open
An open tab feels safe. Closing it means maybe never finding it again. Browser bookmarks help little, because everything sits there without order and without a search over the content. So it stays at 40 tabs, and the laptop gets slower.
How to clean up
- Install the extension for Chrome or Edge: extensions.
- Click once per tab on the LinkVault button in the toolbar. The link lands in the library right away, and the title comes with the page.
- Close the tab. It is saved, even when you are offline.
- Star the important links. By default they show up in a LinkVault folder on the bookmarks bar.
- Later, search one word in the extension side panel, in the app or in the web app.
If you allow AI processing, you get a summary, a category and tags. Then you also find the tab through a word from its content.
On the phone
Open tabs on the phone take the same path: tap Share in the browser and pick LinkVault. With an account and sync they then sit in the same library on the laptop too.
Limits
- One click saves one tab. The extension does not save all open tabs at once.
- The extension exists for Chrome and Edge. In other browsers you paste the link into the app or the web app.
- LinkVault is not a web archive. If the page changes, you see the new version when you open it.
The library stays on your device, with no account and no ads. You only need an account for sync.
