Send a link from phone to laptop without emailing yourself
Short answer: share the link on your phone to LinkVault and sign in with the same account on both devices. After sync it sits in the same library on your laptop, and one word in the search finds it.
Why emailing yourself falls short
The email arrives. On the laptop you then search your inbox for a subject line you never wrote. A link in a chat with yourself sinks even faster. Both are places without a title, a category or a search over the content.
How it works
- On the phone: in the browser, in YouTube or in another app, tap Share and pick LinkVault. The link lands in the library on the phone right away, even offline. The title comes with the page.
- On the laptop: install LinkVault for Mac or Windows, the extension for Chrome or Edge, or open the web app in the browser: all apps.
- On both devices, sign in with the same account, through Apple or Google. Sync then runs in the background.
- On the laptop, type one word from the title into the search. The entry is there, with the same tags and the same category.
If you allow AI processing, you get a summary, a category and tags. The search then also finds words from the summary.
A PDF or a screenshot too
A file takes the same path: Share, LinkVault. The PDF or screenshot sits next to your links in the same library and reaches the laptop with sync. New files are private by default, so they are not sent to AI and not added to a team workspace.
Without an account
Without an account the library stays on the phone. You do not need an account to save links. For a second device you need one, because the account is the anchor where both devices find the same library. No ads, with or without an account.
Limits
- Sync needs a network on both devices. Offline it waits until you are connected again.
- Sync and AI have a monthly free allowance.
- The Android app needs Android 12 or newer. On Linux the same library runs as a web app.
