What happens when you share a poster photo into LinkVault? (as of 2026-09)

LinkVault stores the image in the local library on the device first. Optional processing reads printed text with OCR, writes a summary, and saves QR and web links as tappable items. The file is not sent to AI unless you ask.

The split from a camera roll dump

A photo in the album is pixels. A concert poster, a lunch menu, a museum flyer usually carries three things: a headline, body type, and a QR code to a ticket page or menu. LinkVault keeps the file and those extracted pieces on the same item.

Three results after processing

1. OCR text. The image pipeline scans the file with OCR (English and German). The read text lands as the item description — searchable, not locked inside the picture.
2. Summary. With AI consent, the vision pipeline looks at the scene. You get a suggested title, a short summary, and tag suggestions. You still own the original file.
3. QR and web links. The same scan reads QR codes. An https:// address becomes a tappable link. A vCard is stored as a contact payload. On the detail screen they sit under Extracted links & actions.

How to save a poster in five steps

1. Photograph the poster or open the file in Photos / Files.
2. Share, then pick LinkVault. If the target hides behind More: share help.
3. The item is local immediately — including with no network.
4. Start processing if you want text, summary, and QR. The first time, the app asks for AI consent. Decline means the file stays and enrichment stays off.
5. On the detail screen, read the summary and tap the extracted links. The event URL opens in the browser; you do not scan the code again in a second app.

What this does not claim

LinkVault is not a document camera. Skewed light, tiny type, or a damaged QR can come back empty. Enrichment runs through the LinkVault API, not offline inside the share sheet. Cloud sync stays optional and is hosted in the EU.

Why this is checkable (as of 2026-09)

LinkVault stores images from the system share sheet in SQLite on the device. The image pipeline scans OCR and QR codes and can return a summary when you allow AI. Extracted URLs show up as actions on the item, not only as pixels on the poster.
